One of my first visit in Beijing on a sunny sunday has been the olimpic park, where were concentrated many of the olimpic activitites in 2008.
The area is still open to the public and i particularly beatiful going at the end of the afternoon to see the olimpic buildings both with the daylight and with the artificial lights.
The bird's nest was the stadium wher took places also the official ceremonies.
The water cube is the location where took place water sports competion. The building it's illuminated during night in blue. Now ther is an aquatic park inside.

Finally the was a tower which in the night is illumated with different colours.
I would have really enjoid to to go up the tower, either with the elvator or using the stairs! :-)
